We just received word today that Brett's surgery is scheduled for December 30th. If you think of us on that day and have time to say a little prayer for our man, we'd appreciate it. We pray that they are able to do the surgery using the endoscopic technique. That is their PLAN but they have said if they get in there and find his scull fused more than expected, they will have to do the "open" procedure. This would not be ideal (refer to video and you will see why).
Doing it endoscopicly only requires a one night hospital stay, so hopefully we will be ringing in the New Year with a little guy who has a "healed head" and plenty of room for that great big brain to grow. :)
Over the next couple of weeks he will be undergoing a neuropsychology test and also an eye exam, also to be done after his surgery. These tests are to make sure that while doing the procedure, his brain remains untouched and unharmed.
Some of you have asked me "how is he doing" and he is wonderful. He will be 8 weeks old tomorrow and has already started smiling and cooing (attached is a picture) of course).
We will be e-mailing you all after the New Year to let you know how it went.
Again, thank you to everyone for their support and encouragement,
